The construction of the world's largest radio telescope in a rural area of China's southwestern Guizhou province drew to an end Sunday as the last of its 4,450 panels was put into place inside the giant dish, reported state media.

The radio telescope - with a diameter of 500 meters, dwarfing the so-far largest 305-meter one at Puerto Rico's Arecibo Observatory - is set to be inaugurated in September.
