Inhabitants of the microstate of Andorra on the mountainous Spanish-French borders spent much of Thursday perturbed as the color of one of their rivers turned emerald green.
The government of Andorra said in a statement that the Valira river had been stained on purpose with a harmless dye as part of an investigation into how the source of a regional spring was contaminated a year ago, leading to the closure of a bottling plant.
