A regional branch of Spain's ministry of health said Thursday it was monitoring 200 people after two cases of a potentially deadly tick-borne virus that causes bleeding were detected in Madrid.

A 62-year-old man died after contracting the Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) and a nurse who treated him in an isolation unit was also infected, Madrid's regional ministry said.
